Baba Sweets & Restaurant is a takeaway-focused Indian eatery tucked into Burnaby’s 6th Street neighborhood, where the emphasis is clearly on authentic flavors and hearty portions rather than formal dine-in ambiance. There’s no seating inside aside from a few spots outside, so this place suits anyone looking to grab a solid, home-style Indian meal to enjoy at home or on the go.

The menu reflects a broad range of Punjabi and North Indian staples, from crispy vegetarian samosas and paneer tikka to crowd-pleasing tandoori chicken and rich dal makhni. Regulars often highlight combos like the gobi and mooli parathas, which come generously stuffed and served with butter and pickles, and the veg thali that delivers a balanced sampling of curries and sides. It’s also known for fresh-made sweets, providing a nice final touch for those wanting a dessert to complement their meal.

Ordering here is straightforward and efficient, with many people calling ahead or using online services to have their meals ready quickly—a practical choice for busy workers or families looking for reliable takeout. The service is typically described as warm and friendly, with staff who make the pickup process smooth.

Atmosphere-wise, Baba Sweets isn’t about lingering over a meal but rather about capturing authentic taste and comfort in a casual, no-frills setting. The few outdoor seats provide a spot for a quick bite if you arrive on a sunny day, but most customers treat it as a grab-and-go destination.

  • Best for: Fans of traditional Punjabi and North Indian dishes craving substantial, homemade-style flavors with convenient takeaway service.
  • Who will enjoy this place most: Locals who appreciate generous portions of classics like samosas, parathas, tandoori specials, and freshly prepared sweets, plus those ordering for family dinners or casual meals.
  • Best time to visit: Early evenings or mealtimes when you can pre-order and avoid wait times; weekday lunches also popular for quick, satisfying meals.
  • Atmosphere to expect: A busy takeaway spot with friendly staff, focused on efficiency and authenticity rather than dining ambiance.

Absolutely delicious food! I love their gobhi and mooli parathas - perfectly sized, generously filled, and served with butter and achaar. Thaali is also amazing. Their selection of fresh sweets is amazing, and everything tastes authentic and homemade. The service is always spectacular, with warm and friendly staff who make every visit a great experience. There’s no dine-in option, only takeaway, but it’s always worth it. Baba Sweets in Burnaby never disappoints - highly recommend!

We ordered from Baba Sweets for the first time per recommendations from family in the area. I was very pleasantly surprised! The food was pretty good. We ordered online and our food was ready in about 20 minutes. We walked in to pick up our dinner without any hiccups. We ordered the chili chicken, chicken curry, and rice. 1. The chili chicken was one of the best I’ve had. The chicken was very soft and tender. The peppers and onions were cooked al dente with a nice a crunch! However, the chicken was on the sweeter side. My husband didn’t like the sweetness however I didn’t mind. 2. If you need a chicken curry dish which tastes homemade… this dish, is it! Again, the chicken was soft and tender. The curry was amazing, not overly sweet or savory. The flavors of the onion, tomato, and spices were just perfect. It really tasted like comfort food. Something you could have on a cold rainy day and not feel guilty. 3. The rice was just a typical order of rice. This was probably the first time i’ve ordered rice cooked with peas from an Indian restaurant. I didn’t mind it but if you don’t like peas then don’t order the rice. I highly recommend the two dishes we ordered from Baba Sweets, more specifically the chicken curry. I do plan on trying more items in the near future!

My favorite comparable fast service Indian cuisine restaurant. Usually can pre-order and pick up a delicious dinner. Samosas and sweets are people's usual choice. But I do recommend you review the menu and order one of there always delicious items too. I have tried many of there main curries, and always grab Biryani rice and fresh naan. They have few outside seats and phoning ahead is recommended for pickup from me. Plentiful free parking on the street.

Baba Sweets is a great place for Indian takeout. On my last visit I picked up a lunch special Tiffin box featuring curry lamb, a few samosas and an order of tandoori chicken and Indian fries. It was very delicious, good sized portions and reasonable price.
